Private Lessons are the best way for students to focus on individual techniques. Private instruction in Voice is available for students ages 8 and older (including adults) who wish to strengthen their technique in a supportive, one-on-one environment.   Lessons are offered as recurring weekly, recurring bi-weekly, or drop-in and are offered year round.

City Springs Theatre Conservatory is proud to have such qualified instructors working to teach our students. Below please find class descriptions for each instructor, as well as their availability and private teaching rates.

Lilly Anayeh

Lilly Anayeh is a Musical Theatre voice teacher, using her training in the Estill Voice Method to educate, refine, and empower her students’ instruments.
Because singing is a full body experience, Lilly focuses on mental health as a strong component of sound creation. She focuses her technique on sustainability and longevity, crafting a repeatable recipe for her students to bring with them into their career. Lilly’s lessons tie in the emotional experience of the character, ensuring that the healthy vocal placement and the acting, work in tandem. As a Type 1 Diabetic, she creates a safe space for people of all abilities to explore their art. She is excited to educate with City Springs Theatre Company, as she aims to make lasting connections with her students as they enter their careers.

Julia Johnson

Julia’s goal as a teacher is to help students unlock their greatest potential as a singer through a classical foundation which incorporates a full-body, healthy singing approach that promotes longevity in singing, and allows singers to find their own unique sound. Physically, it is important for students to understand the mechanics of how their voices operate, along with stripping away bad habits by focusing on the skills required for releasing physical tension. Mentally, it is important to remove preconceived expectations students may have for their voices, which helps them discover their uninhibited natural giftings and talents. Additionally, diving into a role’s character development is vital and adds that extra sparkle in performance from shaping phrases to moving audiences. Helping both professionals and students craft their voices into healthy and powerful instruments via technique, combined with strong character/role developments, grows the confidence and skills necessary to cultivate student’s instruments and gain the tools to succeed.

Lara Mcgill

Lara’s studio moto is “Longevity of career with joyful singing.” Her training and teaching are rooted in the Bel Canto technique which requires body awareness for both breath support and release of tension. For students pursuing musical theater, she builds on these techniques by helping students safely find the needed position and placement while relying on front resonance and core strength. Often, she incorporates ideas from yoga and weightlifting to help facilitate the full body singing experience. She purposefully creates an environment focused on safety, so that students can learn new techniques through experimentation, be unafraid to make mistakes in the studio, and find their own unique voice to tell their story.

Jay Morris

Jay has been teaching voice for 30 years, all over the world, singers at every different stage in their vocal journey. He focuses on encouragement, developing a strong, free, well-supported, dependable technique that will hold up under the stress and duress that each singer will face. Jay’s goal is to help you find your best sound, one that you can make whatever the style or repertoire you are exploring.

Bill Newberry

Bill’s coaching techniques consist of teaching proper vocal health and technique, working to expand the student’s vocal range, building a repertoire of appropriate theatre and pop songs for the student, teaching “living the song”: researching the reason for each song and using acting as well as good technique in the teaching process.

Haden Rider

voice lessons include study in posture, breath support, tone production, vowel placement and diction. These skills are then applied to song literature, with repertoire chosen based on each student’s age and ability. Additionally, students may work on musical theatre audition preparation. Private study builds vocal technique and musicianship, while instilling self-confidence and independence in the student.

Sabrina Sloan

Unlock your authentic voice by connecting technical precision with dynamic storytelling. Designed for developing singers and seasoned performers alike, these lessons focus on building a healthy and sustainable vocal foundation from the ground up.
Students will strengthen breath mechanics to eliminate vocal strain early, cultivate smooth transition between registers, refine vowel shaping, and optimize resonance. Beyond mechanics, lessons place a heavy emphasis on acting through song-transforming solid vocal technique into compelling, emotionally connected performances. Whether preparing for high-stakes musical theatre auditions, tackling complex repertoire, or building lifelong vocal health and confidence, training is tailored to each singer's unique goals and artistic voice.

Cary Tedder

Cary utilizes various methods of practice and exploration with students of music. Having
trained (and continuing education) in Estill voice, Cary can confidently help a student clearly understand their vocal anatomy, function, isolation, and implementation. Exercises in ear training, the SCATIR practice technique, repertoire selection and book development,
improvisation, listening, and expression are offered, based on the student’s personal needs and interests. Students are invited not to just become great singers, but musicians. Learning how to read music, how to practice harmony, or how to compose music or write lyrics, these are all available and students are encouraged to explore the many splendid facets music has to offer. Whether a student wishes to be a careerist or an amateur, with proper study anyone can see: there are few things that show us what it is to be human more than music. Lessons also available for piano and guitar.
