"CITY SPRINGS SEEMS UNSTOPPABLE"

(Rough Draft Atlanta)

When the City of Sandy Springs began construction of a new performing arts center within its new City Springs downtown development. As those plans took shape, a community survey indicated that Broadway-style musicals were the kind of programming most-desired by area residents.

In 2016, a trio of those residents, Jan Collins, Steven Hauser, and Peggy and Jerry Stapleton, floated the idea of creating a new, local company to produce Broadway-quality shows at the new Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center. The company would combine local and national talent, and would strive to produce shows at a level of quality equal to what audiences see in New York and in national touring productions.

After a successful fundraising effort, in 2017, 248 founding patrons contributed to support the formation of City Springs Theatre Company (CSTC). The company opened its first production, 42nd Street, at the newly-named Byers Theatre in September of 2018. CSTC would not have become a reality without the generous support of Ken and Trish Byers and the Sandy Springs Foundation.

As a Presenting Partner of the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, City Springs Theatre is committed to artistic excellence, community engagement, and educational initiatives for all ages.

Led by Executive Director Natalie DeLancey and Tony Award winner and Atlanta native Shuler Hensley as Artistic Director, CSTC has served over 320,000 patrons and 150,000 students through mainstage musicals and educational programs.

In September 2026, City Springs Theatre Company will open its ninth season of musicals at the Byers Theatre in the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

In 2018, City Springs Theatre Company, launched it's Conservatory program, dedicated to training the next generation of both performers and stage technicians in musical theatre.

The Conservatory offers private lessons, weekly classes, a college prep course, a Pre-Professional Company, an annual summer musical for high school students, and has an award-winning Competition Team. The Conservatory’s Pre-Professional Company is a unique training program dedicated to students age 12-18 who are looking to pursue a career in the performing arts.

The Conservatory also partners annually with the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center to offer week-long summer camp programs for students in grades 2-8.
